Süsse becomes a supplier and partner to all major universities, hygiene institutes and medical examination offices as well as the medical department of the German Armed Forces. Two new branches in Berlin and Wroclaw. Development of the classic “shipping container for human examinations” in cooperation with universities

1917

Cooperation partnership with Deutsche Reichspost for the shipment of medical samples. At that time, the complete shipping system consisted of a glass sample container with a cork, surrounded by a protective cover made of light metal. Packed in a sturdy wooden box, the shipping system is sent by post.

Official change of name to “Süsse und Schmidt KG

1952

Takeover by the successor and son Erich Süsse, with headquarters in Kassel and a branch office in Munich. The traditional division “shipping containers – laboratory equipment – laboratory devices” is expanded to include the division “metal”, which includes the production of the “steam trap according to Koch”. Süsse und Schmidt KG expands in line with the growing economy of the Federal Republic of Germany and adapts to the requirements of the new market in laboratory equipment.

1986

Fred Krollpfeiffer from Kassel takes over the company. With entrepreneurial skill and flair, he sets the course for the production of plastic items for laboratory and pathology needs while maintaining the current range. The classic shipping system, which used to consist of glass tubes, metal casings and wooden boxes, is now made entirely of plastic: The production of protective vessels in various standard and special sizes in accordance with DIN EN829, with corresponding sample vessels, is adapting to the growing market.

2003

New postal regulations for “sending infectious substances as letters” have led to the development of the Süsse Post Box, a BAM-certified safety packaging for diagnostic samples and biological substances of class 6.2 (UN3373). The Süsse Post Box meets the P650 packaging instruction, which complies with the dangerous goods regulations for Class 6.2 substances for road, rail and air, as well as the postal shipping regulations.

2004

Expansion of the glass sector to include the production of microscope slides and cover glasses. This sector is continuously growing and remains an integral part of the product portfolio. Our microscope slides are very popular thanks to their excellent quality and wide range of models and designs.

2006

Expansion of the range: safety packaging for the shipment of patient samples. The Süsse Post Boxes are available in three different versions and sizes. Today, the complete system for the shipment of medical samples with sample and protective tubes made of plastic and the corresponding safety packaging is one of Süsse's main products in the laboratory sector.

2010

Süsse Labortechnik is not only focusing on expanding its product range, but also on sustainability. This year, for example, a photovoltaic system is being installed on the entire building roof, covering an area of 3000m².

2014

Fred Krollpfeiffer Sr. retires from active business and hands over the company to his daughter Sandra Krollpfeiffer and his son Fred Krollpfeiffer Jr.

2016

In order to meet the high demand for formalin-filled containers/tubes in histology and pathology, a fully automatic formalin filling system is put into operation.

2018

Expansion of the range of dangerous goods: the Süsse UN3373 mail box is available in many more sizes, thus adapting to the needs of our customers. A breath of fresh air is brought by the revised design in print and digital media, as well as the adaptation of the entire product portfolio.

2020

The expansion of the product range reaches a peak: around 2000 new products are added to our catalog. These include the products of the exclusive “Liquid Transport Swabs” product line, for which we have exclusive distribution rights in Germany.

2021

This year, we are once again focusing on the topic of sustainability: in the area of packaging and shipping, all items will be made from recycled cardboard and paper.

2022

Sustainability and environmental protection continue to be a priority: our protective bags have been awarded the “Blue Angel” environmental label. The expansion of our storage area from approx. 1700m² to 3500m² with around 4000 storage spaces creates plenty of room for these and other new products.

2023

Environmental protection and sustainability are important topics for Süsse Labortechnik again this year. For the first time, protective vessels made of recycled material are included in our product catalog. This makes us a pioneer in this field.

Süsse Labortechnik is proud of our success today and of over 120 years of tradition as a partner in the laboratory and pathology sector.
