Description
Swab with pink screw cap and sample tube containing 1 ml of liquid AMIES transport medium for collecting and preserving aerobes, anaerobes and other fastidious bacteria, e.g. Streptococcus pyogenes, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Bacteroides fragilis, Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae etc., for up to 48 hours (24 hours for Neisseria gonorrhoeae) at room or refrigerated temperature. Suitable for the collection and preservation of mycobacteria and fungi. Amies is a preservation medium consisting of inorganic phosphate, calcium and magnesium salts and sodium chloride; it has a reduced environment due to the presence of sodium thioglycolate.
